The Altar
The altar is the focal point of a ceremony. Tradition has it that bride stands on the groom’s left. (It’s a practice going back to Anglo- Saxon times) but there are no laws about who stands on what side.
Best Man
The best man has to be super-organized, charming. It’s no easy job. Traditional Best Man duties-

-

Bridesmaids
Brides please remember, bridesmaids occasionally need to be out of your sight for small reasons, such as using the bathroom. You want to look good, so do your bridesmaids. Let your bridesmaids choose a style that suits them. What do they actually do?
- Be honest about your clothing, hair and makeup choices. If they’re hideous, someone should be letting you know. Buy a bridesmaid dress some brides will cover the cost of the dress, it’s generally expected that each bridesmaid pays for her own dress. Get their outfits and accessories together and turn up on time for all fittings.
- Organize a bridal shower and bachelorette party. The maid (or matron) of honor is in charge of the parties.
- Help you organize the wedding.Mop up tantrums.
- Attend the bridal shower bachelorette party, wedding rehearsal, and rehearsal dinner
- Show up for the wedding—and dance.
- GENERALLY BE A PILLAR OF HAPPINESS.
Bouquet
All blooms have a meaning- even the simplest or most budget-conscious flower arrangement adds a touch of beauty to your day. Set you budget-find a florist whose average job is in your price range. So what your florist needs from you is your time, input and honesty!
The language of flowers, ( floriography,) have been attributed several meanings for thousands of years.
Bluebells meant Kindness, Peonies stood for Bashfulness, Rosemary was synonymous with Remembrance, Tulips represented Passion, and Wallflowers stood for Faithfulness in adversity.Sunflower Adoration, Rose pink Happiness; Red Love.
Colors of flowers also had meanings. A white violet indicated Innocence and a purple violet would symbolize that the giver’s thoughts were occupied with love about the recipient.
Myrtle was used to symbolize good luck and love in a marriage.
Tip – Think about having corsages or simple hair flowers for the bridesmaids instead of bouquets!
Cake
The wedding cake symbolizes good fortune and fertility. It also brings good luck to everyone who eats it. The wedding cake should be made with an abundance of good quality ingredients to symbolize a long-lasting, rich, and happy marriage. The bride cuts the first slice of cake to provide good fortune in the marriage. There is no right or wrong when considering wedding cakes.
How much cake do you need?
A three-tier cake with 8”, 10” and 12” round tiers will feed 100 to 125 guests.
When should I order?
Try to give yourself around three months.
Do I have to have a cake?
Of course NOT. You can have cupcakes-no need to settle on one flavor, easy to serve and one per person is usually enough. You can order a small 6’ cake for the photo.
Dress
There are no rules for what you should wear on your wedding day. You don’t have to to wear white.(The color of purity and virginity?) A centuries old tradition? White became popular after Queen Victoria wore a white wedding dress. You can wear your favorite color instead. Beautiful dresses don’t just come from bridal stores. Check Department store (in-house bridal sections,);Vintage stores and websites; online fashion retailers; eBay or Etsy* ; fashion boutiques; Rent or borrow!
*eBay and Etsy have been the best of the best and the worst of the worst.
Elope
There’s something lovely, sincere and intimate about skipping off and doing it your way! If you are eloping don’t tell anyone more then 10 minutes ion advance..and consider throwing a party when you get back.
Favors
If favors have become just another thing to check off your list, or even a tiny concern, skip them.
First dance
Like being the center of attention? Then go ahead, give a performance! The first dance is a time honored tradition and a good photo op. It should always be fun.
Flower girl
This is the super cute kid who walks before or after you down the aisle, scatters petals or carries your rings and charms everyone. Choose kid who won’t be completely undone by nerves.
Footwear
Getting married doesn’t mean you have to wear high heels. Keep trying on shoes until you find ones that fit like a lambskin glove. Brides have done it every which way-barefoot, sneakers, cowboy boots, flip-flops, uggs, sandals, platform and wedges, heels.
Groom
Yes, yes..It’s his party too!
The Traditional Groom’s to – do list. The Groom is expected to fulfill other duties apart from party planning.
- Buy the engagement ring
- Choose the men in the wedding party and what they’ll wear
- Arrange and pay for the honeymoon
- Buy a gift for the Bride
- Prepare toasts for the rehearsal dinner and the reception
- Send out invitation for the rehearsal dinner
- Bring the marriage license on the day
- Dance with both Moms and the Maid of Honor.
Including Your Pet in the Wedding
Is there anything more adorable than a dog in a tux? A pet can be a guest of honor or simply stand with the wedding party during the ceremony but there’s no guarantee that your pet will behave exactly how you want him to on the day of the wedding. Ensure Guests Are Comfortable Around Dogs. Weddings can be stressful and overwhelming for a dog .Even the most outgoing and friendly pet can be overwhelmed by a crowd of guests, Include your pet in your portraits after the ceremony: hire a pet sitter to be responsible for bringing your pet to the ceremony, taking him home after, or watching him during the reception. Embrace the Chaos !
Sit Back, Relax and Get Married
Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful and endures through every circumstance.
