There is nothing quite as satisfying as a plate of Salisbury Steak. This homemade recipe is one that your whole family will love! The classic flavors of tender beef and mushroom gravy are surprisingly rich and undoubtedly delicious.
1 ½ pounds lean ground beef (round or sirloin)
½ cup water
¼ teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
¼ cup bread crumbs
2 tablespoon olive oil
¼ cup yellow onion, chopped
2 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
Directions for Salisbury Steak
Combine the soup, Worcestershire sauce mix well and set aside.
In a large bowl, lightly beat the egg, then add the bread crumbs, chopped onion, black pepper, kosher salt and ¼ cup of the soup mixture.
Crumble beef over mixture until the ingredients are just evenly combined. Form the mixture into 6 oval patties, each about 1 inch thick.
In a large skillet, brown the patties in oil, drain.
Combine remaining soup mixture with ½ cup water and pour over patties. Cover and cook over low heat for 15 minutes. Remove patties to a serving platter. Sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley.-optional.
Serve with mashed potatoes or Steak fries.
- Parsley is available in a curly-leaf s well as the more pungent flat -leaf Italian variety.
- Ground beef is labeled with % of lean meat to fat. This ranges from 75% lean to 90% extra lean. (80 to 85% lean-juicy and flavorful is the most popular.
