Acne -Remedies for Smoother Skin

You don’t have to be a teenager to get hit with pimples, blackheads, whiteheads or blemishes. 80% of people with acne were 15 – 44 years old.

The exact cause of acne is not known, but it is believed to be related to genetic predisposition and to the increased hormonal activity – during puberty. The most common form, acne vulgaris (the common form of acne, in teens and young adults), shows up on your face, chest, shoulders.

Acne -Remedies for Smoother Skin

Cystic acne appears as painful cyst or painless lumps. Fluctuating hormones caused by puberty, sweating can aggravate acne, oral contraceptives, lack of sunlight, poor skin hygiene. PMS, pregnancy or menopause. Males are more often affected than females and condition is not confined to adolescence.Acne affects more then 60 % of the population of the US. Let’s learn about some acne myths-

Myth# 1. Acne is cause by dirt!?

Dirt does not cause pimples. Pimples occur when pores become clogged with oil. Some people have more “oily” skin than others. On the other hand, excessive washing can dry and irritate the skin, harsh soap will not wash away your acne.

Myth# 2. Acne is cause by the foods you eat!?

Eating chocolate and pizza will not cause acne-be aware that other factors can aggravate an acne outbreak.

Myth# 3.Acne will go away on its own!?

It’s true many breakouts will heal, a pimple will last from one to four weeks, but it will go away. In the recent years more people have turned to natural remedies and one of the most successful so far has been found in Australian tea tree oil for acne a natural antibacterial ingredient to help control acne.

The way tea tree oil actually reacts – It kills bacteria and germs and cleans pores and reduced breakouts just as effectively as the benzoyl peroxide but with fewer side effects.

Myth #4.Sun light helps acne!?

Minimize exposure to the sunlight- because acne medication may cause adverse reaction to the sun. Tanning on your face may hide your acne, but just temporary. Always use a sunscreen, but choose one that’s oil free.

Myth# 5. To squeeze or NOT to squeeze!?

Know when to squeeze! You are much more likely to cause redness and swelling, or scarring pimple is an inflammation and you may cause an infection.

If you must do something try this. Attack blackheads, you can get rid of a blackheads.

-wrap an ice cube in soft cloth and hold it to blemish for a few minutes every hour.

-for acne that flares at that time of the month, drink 1 or 2 cups of chasteberry tea daily.

-combine 1 teaspoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of honey, for 20 min. then wash it off.(honey does have antiseptic properties)
